Configuring Internet Explorer 6.0 for PC

Under the View menu, check to be sure there is a check beside Status Bar; if not select Status Bar

Under the Tools menu select Internet Options...

  • Click the General tab
    • In the Temporary Internet files section
      • Click the Delete Cookies... button
      • In the Delete Cookies warning box click the OK button
      • Click the Delete Files... button
      • In the Delete Files warning box, click to check the box beside Delete all offline content and click the OK button
      • Click the Settings... button
      • In the Check for newer versions of stored pages section, click the radio button beside Every visit to the page
      • Click the OK button in the Settings window
  • Click the Security tab
    • In the Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings section
      • Click the Internet icon
        • In the Security level for this zone section, click the Default Level button
        • Use the slider to set the Security Level to Medium or Medium-low
        • Click the Custom Level... button
        • Scroll down to the Scripting section
        • Under Active scripting, click the radio button beside Enable
        • Under Scripting of Java applets, click the radio button beside Enable
        • Click the OK button in the Security Settings window
      • Click the Trusted Sites icon
        • In the Security level for this zone section, use the slider to set the Security Level to Low
        • Click the Sites... button
        • Type blackboard.com in the text box below Add this Web site to the zone
        • Click the Add button
        • Type utsystem.edu in the text box below Add this Web site to the zone
        • Click the Add button
        • Click the OK button in the Trusted Sites window
  • Click the Privacy tab
    • In the Settings section
      • Click the Sites... button
      • Click the Remove All button
      • Type blackboard.com in the text box below Address of Web site
      • Click the Allow button
      • Type utsystem.edu in the text box below Address of Web site
      • Click the Allow button
      • Click OK in the Per Site Privacy Actions window
    • In the Pop-up Blocker section
      • If the check box beside Block pop-ups is selected do the following steps
      • Click the Settings... button
        • In the Exceptions section
          • Type blackboard.com in the text box below Address of Web site to allow
          • Click the Add button
          • Type utsystem.edu in the text box below Address of Web site to allow
          • Click the Add button
        • In the Notifications and Filter Level section
          • Click to check the boxes beside Play a sound when a pop-up is blocked and Show Information Bar when a pop-up in blocked
          • Under Filter Level select Medium: Block most automatic pop-ups
        • Click the Close button in the Pop-up Blocker Settings window
  • Click the Advanced tab
    • In the Browsing section, click to check the boxes beside Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable Script Debugging (Other)
    • In the Java (Sun) section, click to check the box beside Use JRE 1.5.0_06 for <applet> (requires restart)
    • In the Multimedia section, click to check the boxes beside Play animations in web pages, Play sounds in web pages, and Play videos in web pages
    • Click the Apply button
  • Click the OK button in the Internet Options window

 

Configuring QuickTime for PC

From the Start menu select Control Panel

Double click the QuickTime icon to launch QuickTime

  • Click the Streaming tab
    • In the Streaming Speed section click to select your connection speed from the pull-down menu (if you are using a high-speed connection select 256 Kbps DSL/Cable; if you are using a dial-up connection select 56 Kbps Modem/ISDN)
  • Click on the Advanced tab
    • In the Streaming section
      • Click to select Custom... from the pull-down menu beside Transport Setup:
      • In the Streaming Transport window
        • Click to select HTTP from the pull-down menu beside Transport Protocol:
        • Click to select 80 from the pull-down menu beside Port ID:
        • Click the OK button in the Streaming Transport window
  • Click the OK button in the QuickTime Preferences window

Exit the browser and Restart your computer
