Executive Director's Welcome
Hi. I’m Darcy Hardy, the Executive Director of the UT TeleCampus (UTTC). We’re so happy you have chosen to study with us.
You’ll find that the UTTC learning experience is, in many ways, the same as being in a traditional class. But in other ways, it is quite different. Like an on-campus course, your UTTC course is from an accredited university and is taught by an experienced faculty member. But, your instructor has received training on teaching online. In most cases, your professor will be a full-time faculty member who also teaches the course on campus and who planned and wrote the course in which you are enrolled.
UTTC courses are designed with the distance learner in mind, so your course may have different assignments or assessments than the same course on campus. But, the goals and objectives for the course and the expectations for your learning are the same online as they are in an on-campus course.
Typically, the amount of time you’ll spend learning online will be the same as for an on-campus course. Or, it may be more. The time you spend in your online course is designed to be equivalent to the time you spend in a traditional classroom as well as the time you spend preparing for a traditional class.
And, like an on-campus course, your UTTC course is not self-paced. You’ll have dates and deadlines for participation, assignments and assessments. But, because you won’t be going to a classroom at a scheduled time, you’ll need to keep yourself on track.
If you need help, you’ll find it is available to you just as it is for a course on campus. UTTC has academic resources at no additional cost, like tutoring and a library. We even have a paper review service to help you to be sure your written assignments are the best they can be.
Rather than going to a building on campus, you’ll receive all your UTTC services online, at a distance. And, most of our services are available to you 24 hours a day.
When your course was written, it was designed to meet an important distance education standard called the Principles of Good Practice. And, before the start of the semester, your course received a thorough technical review. So, we don’t expect you to have problems.
But, if you need it, we also offer a free 24x7 Help Desk that you can contact for technology issues and for answers to questions about using the technology for your course. And, we hope that you’ll always remember that we are here to help you Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time.
As you can see, we strive to provide a rich and meaningful learning experience. That is why we’ve been recognized nationally for our high quality online courses, programs and support.
Your success is our goal. We want you to have a positive and rewarding learning experience with the UT TeleCampus. Thanks again for learning with us.
