Nurse Clinician Educator

Contributing to the next generation of nurses is an exciting, challenging and satisfying professional responsibility. Our future nurses have been raised as digital natives, and expect active teaching and learning strategies incorporating the latest technology! We invite current and future preceptors, clinical instructors and faculty members to participate in this graduate certificate program that will prepare you to actively engage your future students. The Graduate Certificate: Nursing Education program offered by the University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing consists of three (3 credit hour) graduate level nursing education courses.

The goal of this certificate program is to facilitate the continued development of quality nurse educators in various settings including community, acute care, and education. Participants will acquire a broader understanding and will practice skills related to curriculum development and evaluation, instructional design, best practices for teaching and assessment of learning. Through the online series, participants will use a variety of instructional technologies; thereby learning by doing.

Completion of the certificate meets partial requirements for national certification through the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Getting Started

Admission to the graduate school as a non-degree nursing (NEDU) graduate student and baccalaureate preparation as a registered nurse; non-nursing majors may enroll with Assistant Dean of Graduate Education in Nursing approval.

Registration and Course Access

Once you have been admitted to UTEP, you will follow UTEP's regular procedure to register for these three courses. Contact the UTEP Registrar's Office for more information or link to the registration page.

After completing the registration process, you can access your course beginning on the first class day for that semester. Consult the academic calendars for a listing of UTEP semester start dates. Follow the instructions on the Course Login page to access your course.
