Course Description
This is a three semester hour graduate course concerning the application and analysis of current trends and problems in the establishment and control of quality, as set forth in the Total Quality Management movement in business, industry, education, and government. This course is designed to be a discussion, analysis, and application of Juran’s Trilogy and to also include statistical quality control measures of attribute and variable process control techniques and process capability studies. Graphical problem solving tools for continuous improvement will also be used. TQM and variability analyses will be emphasized as they apply to lean manufacturing techniques followed by a study of design for Six Sigma Quality (DFSSQ). Analysis of MIL-STD’s 105D and 414 will be conducted. Utilization of computers and SPC software will be used to calculate and plot SPC graphs and charts.
