Course Description
This course explores problems, patterns and processes associated with the sport involvement of women in American culture. Topics include the history of women's participation in sport, social stereotypes of sportswomen, institutional influences on the development of women's sport choices and ideals, and women's sport performance capabilities. Current issues in sport for women will be explored. This section of the course will vary each semester, as issues change. This is a 3-credit hour course. The course format is asynchronous so e-mail will be the preferred method of contacting the instructor. Group projects are not used for assigning grades however there are group discussions on the Discussion Board. There is a "Water Cooler" discussion area for non-content specific posts to the class in general from students.
