Course Description:
In this course, students will become acquainted with Translation Studies, in particular, the study of texts in different languages, their linguistic features, and cross-linguistic differences between texts. An overview will be offered to provide a consideration of translation as itself an independent and coherent discipline, which requires practical experience and theoretical understanding of written texts and the communities that produce them. The course introduces the student to the professional translation of documents of different genres, including legal and administrative, business, academic, and scientific texts.
