Course Description

This course is an introduction to contemporary conceptions of curriculum and instruction as related to teaching in elementary, middle, and high schools. Course content includes instruction on constructivism, national standards, assessment, cooperative learning and state testing initiatives.


Course Objectives

In TED 5301, you will be introduced to writing curriculum that reflects both the procedural and conceptual approaches to curriculum design. We will examine the correlation that exists between well-written curricula and effective teaching. Students will gain experience in planning and assessing developmentally appropriate and meaningful learning experiences. Moreover, students will be encouraged to be critically reflective about their teaching and learning as they begin to develop their own professional identities.
