Description
This course provides concepts central to the growth, development and mental health through the human stages of prenatal, birth, childhood, adolescence, young and middle adulthood, old age and death. Focus is on on biological/genetic and environmental influences on the cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional/psychological developmental areas. An observation and interaction project is provided to demonstrate the application of principles and theories. Discussions on current lifespan issues in human development and mental health can demonstrate the student's grasp of the concepts. Discussions are based on current research findings, chapter questions and case studies.
