Course Title: Instructional Design
Campus Course Code: EDTC 6321
Campus: UT Brownsville
Program: MED-Educational Technology
Course Description
The goal of this course is simply for us to learn how to hopefully build a better instructional mousetrap. We'll use a systems approach... a process implemented systematically... to design instruction. This seemingly commonsense idea takes on more meaning as we wend through admittedly what can be at times a somewhat tedious process. But a powerful process. The instructional design (ID) process will demonstrate the means to get others to learn. The "when, where, what and why" are up to each individual situation. (Arguably, the "when, where, what and why" are political questions, determined by school boards, corporate boards, etc.) The "how" is the ID part. The designers of this course want you to be able to not only recognize what constitutes excellence in instructional design, but to develop the abilities and skills necessary to create truly superior instruction for your students, whomever they may be. The goal of this course is to for you to be able to design and develop the best instruction possible.
