Course Title: Research Methods in Education
Campus Course Code: EDCI 6390
Campus: UT Brownsville
Program: MED-Educational Technology
Course Description
This course will provide graduate students with opportunities to increase their competence as educational researchers through an in-depth dialogue and instruction of research paradigms and methodologies in education. A paradigm is a way of conceptualizing research. It represents the perspective of the researcher toward the problems being studied. A research methodology is a specific technique or strategy of inquiry. The dual emphasis on paradigms and methodologies is intended to help students understand how theoretical considerations determine the research methods that are most appropriate for a given research question. This course will prepare students to plan a research study and write and defend a Masters Thesis Proposal. EDCI 6309 is required for thesis students in the Educational Technology Master's program.
