Course Description
In this problem based course you will work within a web environment where authentic school data and situations provide an authentic context in which you will develop skills and knowledge relating to the concepts, principles and strategies necessary for effectively designing, implementing and managing a technology environment that supports teaching and learning. Throughout the course you will work collaboratively as a member of a planning team as you develop an organizational technology plan. Although the context will be that of a public school district, the same strategies and processes apply in higher education and corporate settings.
Objectives
The objectives of the course are to enable you to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of important strategies and research related to planning and management of instructional projects and programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of important state and national initiatives, issues, and the changing role of technology in education.
- Understand and discuss the role of the technology leader.
- Demonstrate effective use of online communication environments and technology tools such as surveys, inventory forms, spreadsheets, project management, decision-support, and technology plan building software tools.
- Demonstrate competency in performing a major planning/management-related project collaborative tasks.
