Course Title: Public Administration Capstone
Campus Course Code: URPA 5399
Campus: UT Arlington
Program: MPA
Course Description

The MPA capstone course is an integrative experience for students preparing to leave the world of academia to confront the challenges of administrative practice. The course performs this role by offering students a unique opportunity to explore the interrelationship of theory and action in a field setting. Through the design, conduct and analysis of practical projects in public or non-profit organizations, students will learn how to seek and find answers to the questions practitioners face in their work. A form of service learning, these projects are intended to propose changes in the organization or program practices of a specific client. The course emphasizes critical awareness, the ability to analyze qualitative data, writing and presentation competency, enhanced sensitivity to client perceptions and needs and, when applicable, the added value of collective thinking and understanding through team participation.
