Course Description

An overview of basic concepts and procedures necessary for analyzing, designing, and conducting quantitative and qualitative educational studies. The course will focus on education research including empirical research investigations. The course will also focus on how to conduct educational program evaluations.

Assignments and exams: Weekly assignments include reading assigned portions of the textbook, reading the instructor's discussion narrative, and posting your response to discussion questions. Course assignments will include: A recommendation based upon two research articles. A review and analysis of 3 professional associations, an analysis and evaluation of 3 professional journals, a qualitative research report on a topic of student's choice, a program evaluation report, a quantitative action research report similar in format to those found in a professional education journal article, and a comprehensive final exam.

This course fulfills a degree plan requirement in the Open Option only.
